Reese Witherspoon took her career seriously after enrolling first at Stanford University. Early successes in her acting career included films like Pleasantville and Election, but her role in Elle Woods was the turning point for her. Witherspoon received the Academy Award for her performance in Walk the Line in 2005. Water for Elephants: This Means War & Wild, and for both, she was awarded the Oscar nomination. Her success has also been extended to television. She was a co-star in David E. Kelleys award-winning TV show Big Little Lies and a producer. Witherspoon was born Laura Jean Reese Witherspoon in New Orleans Louisiana on March 22nd, 1976. The daughter of a physician and nurse Witherspoon lived within Nashville Tennessee where she was a debutante and attended Harpeth Hall, a prestigious all-girls private high school. Witherspoon was a part of a local newspaper's appeal for extras due to an impulse in 1991. Witherspoon was offered the leading role in her first feature film The Man in the Moon (1991) at just 14 years old. Witherspoon was so tempted to stop acting her first year of high school that she considered the possibility of pursuing a career in medical. However, in 1996 she won an award at the Catalonian International Film Festival for the award for best actress through her performance in Freeway. Her first year of college was devoted to acting. Then she studied English in Stanford University for a brief period before deciding to return to the workforce. In the comedy The Invisible Man, 2003 she was the first actress to appear in a major feature film. In the following years, she was a part of several shows on television, such as House of Lies Whitney, Better Call Saul and The Invisible Man. She has also appeared in the films The Dictator and The Incredible Burt Wonderstone. A talented painter, she has been featured in a number of galleries.
